ABOUT:
Established in 1913 under State of Oregon Statutes, it is one of the 22 coastal and river ports in Oregon. It was named for the Umpqua River which flows through the district and is the second largest river in Oregon.
The Port District covers 750 square miles – on the Pacific Coast between the Coos and Lane County lines and then east to the Elkton tunnel on Highway 38. The port district includes the communities of Reedsport, Winchester Bay, Gardiner, Ash Valley, Scottsburg, Elkton and portions of the Smith River area. Located on the beautiful scenic Highway 101, it is also the terminus of a major connecting road (Highway 38) to Interstate-5, providing excellent transportation access. Additionally it is served by an airport just 25 miles to the south in North Bend.
The Port is considered a shallow-draft port and a navigable channel that is maintained from the mouth of the Umpqua River upstream to the East Basin in Winchester Bay.
The Port’s primary focus is economic development as indicated in it’s mission statement. The Port actively works with local businesses and organizations as well as federal, state, county and city agencies to retain and attract industry and business to the area.
The Port of Umpqua regular meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month starting at 7 p.m. The meetings are held in the Port of Umpqua Annex at 1841 Winchester Ave., Reedsport.
All of The Port of Umpqua meetings are available to watch live. You can join any regular meeting by simply clicking a link that will be provided on our ABOUT page the day of the meeting.
